This little inconspicuous sieve has proven to be a real genius in the kitchen if you have a baby (I´m sure without the baby it´s very helpful too). You put a little water in the pot, place the sieve in the pot and cut your vegetables into the sieve - that´s it!
Here is why it´s awesome for when you have a baby:

- for some reason it seems to me the vegetables get cooked a lot faster
- steaming the food is recommended by all the baby-food-guides over cooking them
- there are no worries of burning hot water boiling over, even if you went into the living room to find out why the little stinker has been so suspiciously quite for a while now and then forgot about the stove
- if you cook potatoes too long in water it always turns basically into soup because they flake and whatnot, it just seems so much messier, with the steaming-sieve, the vegetables aren´t over cooked right away and they´ll make it at least onto the plate
- I feel like the food soaks up less water too, so if you want to make crisp potato wedges this thing also helps

Is that enough reasons yet?

Matt comes up with some strange ideas sometimes. One of these is a gymnastics ball. It turns out it´s a quite a cool thing to have when you have a baby though. In the beginning we used it to bounce Aurora to sleep. Now that she´s older she doesn´t really go to sleep like that anymore but it makes for great giggles to bounce on it for fun. When she´ll be even older like our friends son Eli who is 3 years old you can play giant football. And we also use it a lot as a desk chair. In fact I´m sitting on it right now.

We got one of these ghost lights to have a soft light in the baby for bedtime but as it turns out it´s also just an excellent toy in general. The other day Aurora and I were on our way home from the city and it was already dark and she was getting grumpy and we had to wait 10 minutes for a tram. So I put the light into her pram and she was happily distracted for waiting time. It changes colour so it can keep a baby busy for quite a while. Definitely one of my top 10 favourite things to buy for a baby!

This travel bed is definitely going to be my next shopping goal. It´s very light, folds down in a very convenient way and very stylish to look at. It´s 120 cm long so your child could sleep in there probably up to 6 years old and by then it might have a camping trip feel to it for kids which they may enjoy. Also I figure you could use it as a sun protection at the beach if you cover the roof of it with a reflective car window shade-sheet.

I bought these baby food cups from Philips the other day on Amazon so now the cooking for Aurora may commence. The set consists of 20 cups in two sizes and drip-proof lids. I can freeze them for up to 3 months and I figured I could also use them for Matt or me in case of us is going back to school at some point or just for berries or pudding for a pick-nick or something. But mainly I want to start cooking myself for Aurora to be able to make sure that organic vegetables are used and to give her a wider, more creative variety of food. Plus I´m sure it´ll be cheaper in the end.

Ps. the first ones I made were: fennel-apple, pumpkin-turnip, sweetpotato-parsnip and Auroras favorite so far pumpkin-apple.

This winter my mum, Aurora and I are going to go on a girls vacation to Mallorca. How lucky is it that just now I happened to stumble across this mobile baby chair?! You can just hook it onto almost every normal chair and secure your baby from sliding off. I think it´s going to prove very useful on our trip, of course also for trips to Starbucks and such.

When Matt stumbled across this tool on www.dotcomgiftshop.com we first just wondered how it works. But I´m thinking this could be really cute thingy to have for your kids. It could be a little family tradition (I love those!). So you bring a breakfast toast to your kids bed every year on his birthday. Next to it you have put a tiny glass bowl with a little bit of strawberry jam and on the side of the plate there are some apple slices for vitamins. And years later when he´s all grown up and lives on the other side of the country with his fiancée he gets all sad on his birthday because he misses his mum and then his fiancée spends a lot of time effort to find one of these stamps because her man really does miss his mommy very bad but she never does but one day she will walk by a shop and see it in the window and surprise him with a birthday toast in bed. And then they will have a kid and your son will bring him a birthday toast with strawberry jam and apple slices just like his grandma used to make them.
